This session brings together new and ongoing research using integrative and multi-disciplinary approaches in the field of archaeology and heritage. Papers in this session explore new concepts and address current debates and long-standing questions on a range of topics, including coastal archaeology, lithic technologies, settlement patterns, burial traditions, and religious monuments. By combining methodological diversity with regional breadth, the papers in this session highlight the value of multi-scalar, comparative, innovative, and interdisciplinary approaches in advancing studies in anthropology, archaeology, and heritage while discovering and revisiting narratives of the deep past across the Indo-Pacific region.
