Yogyakarta
To assist delegates, we have compiled useful information on travel, transportation, accommodation, food places, and local tours and attractions in Yogyakarta. We encourage everyone to review this page for useful resources and recommendations before making travel arrangements and booking accommodation, to better plan their trip, discover local attractions and services, and make the most of their experience at the Congress.
International and domestic travel costs are not included in the IPPA23 registration fees and must be covered by delegates. We recommend that delegates seek funding from their respectives institutions or other sources where possible.
To ensure a smooth trip to Indonesia, delegates should also:
Arrange appropriate travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and baggage.
Confirm visa and entry requirements well in advance and obtain any necessary visas.
Check health and vaccination guidance for travel to Indonesia and complete any required immunisations or health declarations.
Please check all relevant websites in your home country for specific regulations as well as official Indonesian government websites for more information,
Delegates and guests attending IPPA23 will arrive via Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), the primary international airport and main gateway to the city of Yogyakarta and surrounding region. The airport is located approximately 45 kilometres from the city centre, providing convenient access to the congress venue in Universitas Gadjah Mada, various accommodation options and attractions. There are several convenient options for travelling to central Yogyakarta and nearby accommodation precincts. Travel times may vary depending on traffic conditions, destination, and time of day. Delegates are encouraged to plan their airport transfers in advance, particularly if arriving during peak travel periods.

Domestic and International Flight Connections
Delegates travelling from within Indonesia will find frequent connections from major cities, while international visitors can access Yogyakarta through direct services and connecting flights from key regional hubs. We recommend checking with your preferred airline or travel agent for the latest schedules and travel options when planning your attendance at IPPA23.
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is approximately 45-50 kilometres from YIA. Travel time is typically between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the mode of transport and traffic conditions. We recommend allowing additional travel time during peak periods and arranging airport transfers in advance where possible.
Airport Rail Link
The Airport Rail Link offers a convenient connection between YIA and the city of Yogyakarta. Services operate between YIA and Yogyakarta Station (Tugu Station), with a journey time of approximately 35-40 minutes. This option is recommended for those staying in the city centre or near Malioboro. Delegates can then continue to UGM by taxi or ride-share service.

Official airport taxis are available from designated taxi ranks located outside the YIA arrivals area. Taxis provide a convenient door-to-door service to hotels, the Congress venue, and other destinations throughout Yogyakarta. Fares vary depending on distance and traffic conditions.
Ride-share services are often a cost-effective option for delegates travelling individually or in small groups. Grab and Gojek are widely used throughout Yogyakarta and provide convenient transport between the airport, hotels, and local attractions. Dedicated pick-up areas are available at YIA for ride-share passengers.
We advice delegates to use official airport taxi services or reputable operators arranged through the airport.
Access the YIA website on airport transportation for more information: https://www.yogyakartaairport.com/yogyakarta-airport-transportation/
DAMRI Airport Buses
DAMRI Airport Buses operate regular services connecting YIA with various destinations throughout Yogyakarta and surrounding regions. This is an economical transport option for delegates seeking public transport connections from the airport.
Bus routes, schedules, and fares are available on the DAMRI website and may be subject to change.
