The Austronesian language family is widespread throughout much of the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to language, Austronesian societies widely share cultural, ideological and technological similarities. This is a legacy in that traces of this culture are widely found in prehistory, particularly from the Neolithic to the Palaeo-Metal era. This widespread Austronesian cultural heritage is a valuable source of knowledge that urgently needs to be studied in greater depth, particularly to clarify its contribution to the process of cultural change and development across the Asia-Pacific region. This information and knowledge are important for sustainable cultural preservation. This session is a strategic opportunity to strengthen collaborative networks and broaden insights into Austronesian studies. It is hoped that many researchers, academics, and practitioners in the fields of archaeology, anthropology, linguistics, history, and related disciplines will submit papers and actively participate in this discussion session.
