The principles of pottery production are embedded in processes and techniques, the knowledge of which is transmitted through oral traditions and traditional knowledge systems. But tradition doesn’t exist in isolation; therefore, tensions with modernity often arise. In the face of modern challenges, indigenous people are forced to reconsider long-held beliefs and practices. This paper highlights the processes and products of Rünguzu male potters who produce vessels using the indigenous handmade technique, with a focus on knowledge transfer and its potential contributions to modern society. This research study sheds light on the importance of preserving and promoting Indigenous cultural heritage in the face of globalisation.
