Giồng Cá Vồ is a major burial and habitation site strategically located at the mouth of the Đồng Nai River system in the Cần Giờ district of southern Vietnam. This presentation offers a preliminary study of the earthenware assemblage recovered from recent excavations, focusing primarily on the burial jars and their associated pottery. By examining their technological and morpho-stylistic characteristics, the study aims to distinguish different potting traditions that reflect distinct social groups. It further investigates their spatial distribution across the site, while also considering the associated human remains. Finally, these preliminary data are compared with contemporary sites across coastal Southeast Asia to explore cultural interactions at various scales.
