An Initial Study of Wooden Artefacts from Philippine Historical Sites
Jane B. Carlos

Waterlogged, dry and charred wood were documented from some historical sites, mostly in the urban center of Manila in the Philippines. The remains were of posts, possible tools, railroad ties and other discarded wood. Microscopic analysis of these archaeobotanical remains have determined different types of wood, providing evidence for available and preferred wood types during historical times. The wood remains are coming from excavations headed and inspired by Prof. Victor J. Paz.
