OTHER LOCAL ACCOMMODATION

Please note that the IPPA 22nd Congress will be held during one of the most famous festivals in northern Thailand - the Yee Peng (Lantern) Festival and the Loy Krathong (Festival of Light). During this period, choice rooms and hotels in the area may be fully booked so we highly encourage delegates to make early reservations to ensure they get their most preferred accommodations.

Chiang Mai offers a wide variety of accommodation ranging from luxury and boutique to budget hotels and hostels, as well as serviced apartments.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Delegates are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to/from Le Méridien.

CHIANG MAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

From Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), there are several travel options to reach the conference venue. The approximate driving time to Le Méridien Chiang Mai is about 17 minutes (7.8 km). Visit the Chiang Mai Airport Guide for more details and transportation options, including car rental services.

HOTEL SHUTTLE SERVICE

Le Méridien and many hotels in Chiang Mai offer an airport shuttle service which must be directly reserved and paid for by the delegates ahead of time.

TAXI

Although more expensive than other means of public transportation, the taxi is a convenient and quicker way to travel around Chiang Mai. From the airport, the travel time is less than 10 mins and approximately around 150 THB (one way).

ROAD DAENG / SONGTHAEW

Chiang Mai's iconic and main form of public transport are the converted trucks with two rows of back seats, which accommodate 8-10 people. Locally known as Rod Daeng (red car) or Songthaew (two rows), these trucks pickup and drop off passengers all over the city. Their colours determine their route and direction. As they are shared rides, the fare is quite cheap.

BUS

Taking the bus is the cheapest way to travel to/from the airport. Through the R3-Y bus, the travel time from the airport to Anusarn market is 14 mins. plus a 5-min walk to Le Méridien. The R3 bus system runs every 20-30 mins, and the fare from the airport to the Old City is 30 THB. There are also other route services that will allow you to travel around the city of Chiang Mai. Visit the RTC Chiang Mai City Bus for their route map and timetable.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

To ensure a hassle-free attendance to the IPPA Congress, delegates are encouraged to acquire necessary travel documents such as current and valid passport, visa, travel insurance, and foreign currencies ahead of time. Please contact the IPPA Secretariat to request for a letter of invitation.
