I am very pleased to announce that Prof. Peter Bellwood has been awarded the 28th International Cosmos Prize for his contributions to developing our understanding of past human societies, and especially his multi-disciplinary research on the 'early farming dispersal hypothesis'.
Peter joins a prestigious group of winners that includes Sir David Attenborough, Dr. Jane Goodall and Dr. Richard Dawkins. Peter is the first Australian to receive the prize in its 28-year history.
Peter is very familiar to many of us, having dedicated most of his career to archaeological research in the Indo-Pacific region. He is a former Secretary General of the IPPA, and has been (and continues to be) a mentor and/or supervisor to many of our membership.
