Bihar Museum, India

Art, Culture and Youth Department, Government of Bihar, India

The Bihar Museum was constructed over a decade between 2009 and 2019. It is architecturally unique and showcases the whole human history of the Bihar region. In this presentation, I will discuss how some of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis were addressed by museum professionals in this newly established facility. This includes the importance of digital collections and engagement as a method of providing access to museum collections by researchers and the public. It also addresses the new opportunities that emerged study and learning in art and history as a result of new approaches to museum accessibility. The activity models put in place by the museum during the pandemic and post-pandemic to aid in its resurgence of the Bihar Museum as a place to visit will also be shared through this paper.
