Research on Exportation of Chinese Qing-Bai Ware During 13th to 14th Century

Peking University, China

Generally, it seems that Qing-bai wares were not as attractive as Longquan wares or Blue-and-white for scholars within exported ceramic research. But its position and function deserve reflection. Based on the analysis of the Qing-bai wares excavated along the maritime silk road, the phase of exportation of Qing-bai wares could be observed. The research shows that during early and middle of 12th century CE, Qing-bai wares may be the most important export ceramics in China. Until the early 14th century, Longquan wares become the most important. During the end of 12th to 13th centuries, the situation is relatively unclear. The proportion of celadon seems to have increased, but there are still large differences in cases from various regions.
